We all are known about the biggest Internet service provider company World Link which is established in 1995 and the company starts Internet service with the Dialup system.
The dial-up system was very noisy and the maximum speed was also very slow by 56 Kilo Bit per second and for the download speed maximum of 7 Kilo Bit per second but if there is something happen on the power supply the download speed becomes 3/4 Kilo Bit per second.
For to use the Internet there was a charge for telephone per minute and if someone picks the call up, the internet connection lost and for reconnect it take a long time as well as the internet connection was very slow.
For example, if you have to send some photos? At first, you have to take a photo, develop then scan and you can upload a picture on such slow internet then you are ready to send it.
In 1999 in Nepal we got a Mobile phone but there was no Internet on mobile. It’s just 20 years ago and Nepal has huge development on mobile comparing the current time. Then after the internet service use more also expand and developed a lot.
From 2003 the ISP World Link start their own wireless internet which provides a speed of 256 Kbps, the download speed was 30 Kbps and the internet service user feel orgasmic.
In 2004 / 2005 AD the Cable internet service starts in Nepal and Subisu was one of the first companies to start the Cable Internet in Nepal.
Especially in the city area most of the people were using cable internet service because of affordable than the previous one and at that time MSN, Messenger, and Hi5 were popular with most of the users in Nepal.
Also, the cable internet was popular because people can use television channels and internet services on the same wireline.
At that time the use of internet cables in the city area and in the village people are unable to use it because of the long-distance by wire.
Mr. Mahabir Pun start Nepal wireless Networking Project when he completed his study in 2002, which is the focus to connect by internet service in the rural village area and in 2006 mostly rural 13 districts in Nepal which is the Mountain region established WIFI network.
Then after 175 villages in 15 districts, this service started successfully by Mr. Mahabir pun. This is the reason in 2014 he is inducted into the internet hall of fame.
According to the Nepal telecommunication authority until 2006 only 1% of Nepali had internet access than other people of Nepali even did not know about the internet.

In 2017 4G started in Nepal and according to the Nepal telecommunication authority, 16.67 million people are using the internet in Nepal which is 63% of the population of Nepal is getting internet access in Nepal.
However, the majority of the rural area still using 2G which is GPRS but the user are increasing.
According to Nepal Telecommunication Authority data, last year in an average of 250 new user’s ages increasing per hour.
For gaining the users in Nepal last 10 years, the credit goes to mobile Internet and NTC is covering around 54%, around 43% to 44% market of Ncell and only a few small amounts of % for Smart Cell is covering in Nepal.
For Internet Service Providers (ISP) the World link is the highest share of users around 170000 users are using the World Link internet service.
